Chelsea Artists Collaborative Invites Greater Boston to the 2nd Annual Art Walk
Chelsea Art Walk to Highlight Local and Boston Area Artists
Chelsea, MA. June12-13, 2010 – In an event that reflects Chelsea’s burgeoning art scene, the Chelsea Artists’ Collaborative (CHARCOLL) is announcing the 2nd annual Chelsea Art Walk, taking place June 12 and 13 from 12 – 6 p.m. Recipient of a 2009 Massachusetts Cultural Council “Gold Star Award”, this year’s citywide celebration of the arts will host exhibitions and performance in eleven Chelsea venues.
“Chelsea’s rich cultural heritage, unique urban character, welcoming nature, and relative affordability have all contributed to our vital, growing arts community,” said John Kennard, one of the founders of CHARCOLL. “The Chelsea Art Walk is a celebration of the work of Chelsea artists and of artists from the broader region.”
In addition to the host of visual and performing artists participating in venues throughout the city, featured will be the opening of a New England Foundation for the Arts funded temporary public art piece, “Shallow Waters.”
The series of themed shows includes: “A Slice Of Chelsea, A Piece Of Boston” at the Gallery @ Spencer Lofts, “Float” at the Pearl Street Gallery, “Musical Portraits” at the Apollinaire Gallery, “Street Scenes” at the Chelsea City Café, “Global Village” at Chelsea Neighborhood Developers, “Chelsea Student Art” at BHCC, “Urban Disruptions” at the Culturahs Gallery, “The Color Of Memory And Dreams” at City Hall, “Low Tiles” at the historic Bellingham-Cary House, and foundry tours and a display of sculpture at New England Sculpture Service.
