Sunday, January 18, 2009 Reception: 1 - 4 pmSophie Cawlina developed an interest in art as a very young child, drawing and painting constantly. Her imaginative drawings always had an equally interesting story that went along with the images on the paper. From there, Sophie started developing an interest in painting ceramics in her mother’s studio. Functional art became her signature style with dinner plates, bowls and platters becoming the new canvas for her artwork.She continues experimenting with new mediums, but her ceramics remain constant. She continues to develop her artistic style while giving to charities that strike close to her heart; a portion of the proceeds from this show will be donated to HAWC (Help for Abused Women & Children).Sophie Cawlina is a sixth grader who attends Holten Richmond Middle School in Danvers, MA.Sophie will be showing her hand-painted ceramic plates atThe Gallery @ Spencer Lofts60 Dudley StreetChelsea, MA 02150 |
