Paintings by Nataysha Lindemann and Elizabeth Hathaway
Exhibition Dates: August 9- August 30, 2008
Artist’s Reception: August 10, 2008 — 3:00-6:00pm
Constructs of convention attempt to give order to a universe of seeming disorder. Value judgments are formed, separating us from one another and the environment we inhabit.
Nataysha Lindemann and Elizabeth Hathaway push through these boundaries in their series of paintings. Pulsating color undulating with line define patterns evocative of connections in both microcosm and macrocosm. There is a sense of mapping the passage of time and the gesture of memory. The compositions share a transformative quality in their chromatic embeddings and are gorgeously buoyant. Their dialogue with paint is freely inventive, rule-breaking and playful.
Nataysha and Elizabeth intentionally leave the concept open-ended. Viewers are invited to make their own associations. This shared body of abstract art captures the sublime in the midst of our chaotic, fractured world. Painting that which cannot be spoken.
